About Overseer-Designate Tamara L. Bethea

Pastor Tamara L Bethea was born on November 15, 1975, in Jersey City, NJ. She is the only daughter born to Vernell Lucas and the late Curtis Lucas. She is a product of the Jersey City Public School System, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1993.

Tamara accepted the Lord at the young age of eight, after being taught and prayed for by her godparents the late Mack & Sadie Whitfield. Their dedication to the Lord, and their church proved to be the birthing ground for her work in ministry?”. She was a faithful member of the House of Prayer Baptist Church in Jersey City, NJ. Under the leadership of her Pastor, the late Leroy Witcher, where she began serving the Lord in several ministries.

In the year 2000 after continually seeking God’s will for her life, she was led by the Holy Spirit to the Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Under the leadership of Pastor B.O. Wilson, Tamara grew and began allowing God to use her life and witness as He saw fit. During her time at Mt. Calvary, she served in multiple ministries before accepting her call to the preaching ministry in 2007. After being licensed she began serving as the New Member’s Assistant Instructor, Pastoral Teaching Assistant, and Director of Christian Education overseeing 9 ministries. While diligently serving at the Mt. Calvary Church she was appointed to serve as the Co-Director of Education for the Quarterly Union Ministry of the Christian Fellowship Baptist Association. The Lord saw fit to transition her into a new season of ministry and in 2014 moved her membership to the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Darron Thompson, where she served as an Associate Minister and Director of Christian Education.

In 2019 after much prayer and wise counsel and under the leading of the Holy Spirit, she founded Abundant Hope Ministries, coming under the covering of Bishop Kevin Pendleton and the Sardis Temple Baptist Church. Abundant Hope’s mission is to Glorify God, edify people, and reach the community through meaningful worship and outreach. With the vision to empower people through sound biblical preaching and teaching, and compassionate service in a loving atmosphere; that fosters healing, deliverance, and growth in their lives and communities.

On May 25, 2020, Pastor Tamara joined in holy matrimony to the love of her life Deacon Jermaine Bethea. Together they have a blessed blended family of 7 children and 13 grandchildren.

Pastor Tamara was officially installed as Pastor of Abundant Hope Christian Center in May of 2021, and in September of 2021 Pastor Tamara became the covering Pastor of Freedom and Liberty Outreach Fellowship Center, where their Senior Pastor is Elder Tanya Miller. In February 2022 she expanded her leadership roles and became a clergy leader with Faith In New Jersey. In November 2023, Pastor Tamara was appointed Overseer-Designate.

Pastor Tamara is the author of a 30-day devotional “Wisdom for the Weary: Overcoming Life’s Obstacles” and currently working on other book projects. Pastor Tamara is also the founder of La’Salle Coaching, LLC., a wholeness and life coach, and motivational speaker. In 2022, Pastor Tamara launched two shows, “Real Life, Real Solutions with Coach Tami” and “Motivational Moments with Coach Tami”. She resumed her broadcast, “Thursday Power Prayer with Pastor Tam”.

​In May 2024, Pastor Tamara received her Master of Arts in Ministry Leadership from Pillar College.

​

Although she has faced many trials and tribulations in life Tamara holds fast to the word of God which gives her continual strength to remain steadfast and unmovable. She believes what the word says in Isaiah 40:31: But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
